Your browser is your friend. Be sure to choose it yourself!

  • Mozilla -- our favorite. Cross-platform, open-source, free as in “freedom”. Excellent support for old, new and bleeding-edge Web standards. Around 13Mb to download (yeah, not 80M like Internet Explorer 6). There also are a lot of browsers based on Mozilla's rendering engine (namely “Gecko”), which practically means that they also provide the same outstanding support for Web standards.

  • Opera -- the smallest graphical Web browser in the world. Cross-platform, free download (displays ads) or commercial (but incredibly cheap). Very good support for Web standards. And fast. Real fast. Around 3Mb (!) to download (well, yeah, not 80M like Internet Explorer 6).

  • Konqueror -- a Web browser for Unix-like operating systems. Open-source, free as in “freedom”, provides decent support for Web standards. Its rendering engine (“KHTML”) is used in Apple's Safari, which promises a bright future for Konqueror.

  • Safari -- a Web browser for Apple Macintosh. Free for Mac users. Based on KHTML (see above).

All the Web browsers linked above are actively maintained and developed.
